Yuk Jun-seo (Korean: 육준서; born April 1, 1996) is a South Korean painter, actor, model, YouTuber, former soldier. He gained public recognition as a former member of the Republic of Korea Navy Special Warfare Flotilla (UDT/SEAL), where he served in the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit. He transitioned into the entertainment industry following his appearance on the military survival program "The Iron Squad Season 1" (Korean: 강철부대, also known as "Steel Unit") in 2021, and has since built a multifaceted career in acting, fine arts, content creation, and variety shows.

Early life and military service

Yuk Jun-seo was born on April 1, 1996, in South Korea. He graduated from Gimpo Jeil High School. He has a younger brother, Yuk Jun-hee (born 1998), who is also a former Navy special forces member (SSU) and now works as a firefighter in disaster rescue.Yuk Jun-seo enlisted in the Navy as a non-commissioned officer in December 2014 (246th class). He completed UDT/SEAL training in September 2016 (62-1 class) and served approximately four years in the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Battalion of the Naval Special Warfare Flotilla. He was discharged as a sergeant (reserve) in February 2019.

Art career

After his military discharge, Yuk Jun-seo pursued a career as a visual artist, specializing in painting and drawing with a psychedelic, Eastern-influenced style. His works often incorporate techniques such as layering tracing paper, crumpling or tearing materials into installations, and painting on unconventional surfaces like bones. He has been influenced by artists like Francis Bacon in expressing themes of anxiety and fear.He held his first exhibitions post-discharge and has participated in numerous solo and group shows, including:

  • Fragments: CRANIUM (2024), his first sketch installation solo exhibition at Albert Kumho.
