“Bon Appétit, Your Majesty” (native title: “폭군의 셰프”) is a 2025 historical rom-com with a time-slip twist, set to premiere on tvN on August 23, 2025 (Saturday–Sunday slot) and stream globally on Netflix. The series is directed by Jang Tae-yoo (known for elegant period visuals), produced by Studio Dragon with Film Grida/Jung Universe, and planned as a 12-episode run of roughly 70 minutes each.
At the peak of her career, a modern French-trained chef is suddenly hurled back to the Joseon era. There she meets a ruler famed as the kingdom’s sharpest palate – and its most infamous tyrant. Armed with technique, science, and fearless creativity, she cooks her way through palace intrigue, factional rivalries, and prickly court etiquette, turning enemies-to-lovers sparks into slow-burn affection over simmering sauces and royal tasting sessions.
With teasers rolling out in late July, industry and fan chatter has focused on the chemistry between Im Yoon-ah and Lee Chae-min, the playful “love through food” hook, and Jang Tae-yoo’s polished historical aesthetic. Indian entertainment press flagged it among the August 2025 OTT highlights, and K-media preview events teased team cooking face-offs to promote the show.
The drama is adapted from the web novel often translated as “Surviving as Yeonsan-gun’s Chef”, a witty blend of culinary science and Joseon-era royal cuisine.
tvN staged a “special palace-entry” promo with cast cooking challenges – hinting the show will lean into food-as-spectacle for marketing and story.
Weekend primetime (Saturday–Sunday) on tvN, aligning it with other high-visibility period romances.
Aired on tvN.
